Well folks, it’s official: I am not this year’s Cut & Paste 3D Global Champion. But the real prize was just getting to go to the event in NYC to compete, and what a prize it was! 48 dope creative kids from every part of the globe hanging out together for a couple of days in New York: totally amazing. I left humbled and inspired.
The whole event was both incredibly rewarding and indescribably exhausting physically, mentally, and emotionally. The day after the event, I literally slept for the entire day. To anyone considering competing next year: DO IT!
Special thanks to SpaceClaim and Luxology for providing their software for the event. I know it was fun for the crowd to see all of the different software represented there, and both SpaceClaim and Modo gave me big speed advantages.
My favorite thing from the evening was actually a tweet that someone sent me after the show. I don’t know who wrote it, but it gives me hope that I won over at least a few hearts in the crowd: “Duality theme: Duckhunt gun with a fireflower in the barrel totally pwns the first 3D round.”
Too bad he/she was wrong. :(
10/24/2009Sponsored by Cut & Paste and Scion, LA arts outreach organization “JUiCE” is getting an online facelift, and in typical C&P style, the design was chosen by an open-entry online competition. I entered on a whim right after the last C&P event in Boston, and didn’t think about it again until I got an email two days ago telling me that I’d won the competition! My first response was complete disbelief, but they’ve since convinced me that they’re telling the truth: I really won this thing! Click here to view the full design.
