    I went to a garage sale last summer and found an old B&D drill from the 50’s, and the gal behind the table said “they don’t make ‘em like that anymore!” Obviously this is a true statement, but her tone implied that perhaps her old drill is somehow superior to a drill today. Lets think about that for a minute.

    One annoyance for industrial designers everywhere is the widespread perception among engineers that designers are on-staff to “pretty [the product] up” at the end of the design process. This mindset branches from a fundamental misconception about the contribution of industrial designers to the holistic good of a product.

    In the last post I talked about what current functionalities in Photoshop and Illustrator CS2 need to be fixed or updated. In this one, I’ll talk about additional functionality that I think should be added. In the next entry I’ll cover what I think the ultimate versions of Photoshop and Illustrator would be like.
